2022 Bordeaux Futures Offer #5 This is a smaller offer, but includes one of the most interesting wines from Saint Emilion, Le Dome. Le Dome was started in the mid-90s during the Garagiste movement by Jonathan Maltus, and has retained some of that outsider spirit from the Garagistes even as it has become famed and feted. A new state of the art winery certainly has helped bring the wines even further along. While not a part of the Grand Crus Classe system, the wines are greatly appreciated by collectors, and quantities are quite tiny by Bordeaux standards, generally around 2500 cases. It is also notable for having one of the highest concentrations of Cabernet Franc in all of Bordeaux, around 80%. It received a rating 94-96 from Galloni at Vinous, who said:
The 2022 Le Dôme is terrific. Succulent black cherry, sage, espresso, licorice and dried herbs infuse the 2022 with tons of character. As always, Le Dôme is quite reticent en primeur. There's terrific energy though, and tons of potential for those who can wait. Bright saline notes from the Franc wrap around the imposing finish.
