Ziata Description
After 20 years of marketing Napa Valley and its wines, Karen Cakebread launched ZIATA Wines in 2008. “I had two goals: to create beautifully structured wines that reflect the vineyards they come from; and to be involved in every aspect making wine.” She named the brand in honor of her mother, Mary Annunziata.
"We sourced two clones—Robert Young and Old Wente—from two of the Carneros District of Napa Valley AVAs’ most esteemed Chardonnay growers to craft this elegant wine. These two sustainably farmed vineyards have been owned for decades by their respective families, and we’re thrilled to have access to their expertise and their fruit. Notable neighbors include Hudson Vineyards, Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch, Cuvaison and Hyde Vineyards."
An exceptionally mild vintage, 2018 is notable for its long growing season and lack of extreme heat events. Growers were blessed with generous crops and winemakers with the ability to pick at their convenience. With slightly lower Brix overall, the white wines are naturally high in acid, providing freshness.
