Turning Point Description
Turning Point, a curated selection of wine from the Sonoma Valley, is a collaboration between winemaker Nick Goldschmidt and Vineyard Brands. The name refers to the constant change, season to season, that happens and are necessary to crafting a wine, from the vines to the finished product. There are three wines available: a Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley, a Red Blend from the Alexander Valley and a Cabernet Sauvignon also from the Alexander Valley.
Vintage 2021 was one of the longest ripening seasons for the past two decades. Grape seasons are starting earlier due to lack of water in the soil and the early warm spring temperatures, but this evens out with the cooling trend that comes on in veraison on August. However, there was the head spike over Mother’s Day weekend which restricted the berry expansion. Yields were lighter, with small berries and small clusters. TASTING NOTES: This wine has a deep purple hue with a red middle and evidences aromas of dark cherry and blueberry. There is a concentration of blackberries, and bittersweet chocolate. It finishes both luxiouriously and velvety.
