Sartarelli Description
The wine comes from the grapes coming from our vineyard planted in Contrada Balciana .
The low production per vine and the different grape harvesting times strongly characterize this product of nature. The harvest period fluctuates according to the performance of each year, but usually runs from the beginning of November until the middle of the same month. Extreme care during the harvesting phase (small boxes), so as not to damage the bunches that have reached this level of maturation, concludes the work in the vineyard, and then moves on to normal cellar techniques (with the exclusive use of steel tanks ), be careful not to ruin all the work previously done.
The complexity of all these processing phases tends to naturally limit the annual production, around 15,000 bottles. In exceptionally hot/unfavorable years, such as 1996, 2002 and 2005, it is not produced.
Tasting Note: Brilliant color to the eye, ressed in shiny gold. Broad on the nose, of ripe fruit, even tropical, with sweet notes of honey, lime as well as spicy and citrus notes, liquorice root and almonds. It is wonderfully harmonious with great structure mitigated by strength and freshness .
Wine Pairing: Ancona-style stockfish (a regional specialty in Marche) and baked cod; also with smoked fish and beccafico sardines. Excellent accompaniment with foie gras or pâté de foie gras, roast goose and duck, turkey, as well as perfect with even well-matured cheeses.

The 2020 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Balciana is incredibly airy and fresh with a perfumed blend of dusty yellow flowers, confectionary peach and hints of cardamom. The balance of richness and sweet orchard fruits is compelling, to say the least, accelerated by zesty acids and honeyed inner florals toward the close that seal the deal. For all of its size and richness, the 2020 finishes tense, lightly structured, fresh and literally salty in nature. A beauty.

Named after the nine-hectare vineyard that sources the fruit, the Sartarelli 2020 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Balciana is a broad and rich expression with an open-knit approach, fleshed-out fruit and a powerful 15.5% alcohol content. Aged in stainless steel only, the wine is made with late harvest fruit (that normally comes off the vines between October and November). This wine is opulent and soft with sweet peach and poached pear. A total of 10,000 bottles were produced.
