The superb textural characters allow the complex notes of nashi pear to shine through, accompanied by a layer of bright lemon citrus notes, calling for an exceptionally good Pinot Gris. Pears and white flower aromas simply burst from the glass of Pinot Gris sweetness.
The parcels of fruit which encapsulate this white wine were harvested during cooler spring temperatures leading to naturally lighter yields. Cooler temperatures continued throughout the season, delivering bright, fresh acids in the finished fine wine.
Our estate sits just 2km inland from the wild, windy and sun-soaked coastline of Marlborough New Zealand deep in the Awatere Valley.
This exposed coastal terroir in the Awatere Valley is cooler, windier and drier than the main Wairau Valley of Marlborough. This wild terroir naturally de-vigours the vines resulting in low yields of small, intensely flavoured berries which deliver vibrant, zesty and distinctive wines.
