INSIDER SECRET: Freisa is Nebbiolo's closest relative. It is either the parent or offspring of Nebbiolo. Freisa is almost indestinguishable from Nebbiolo with bottle age with the difference being Freisa has slightly tougher tannins. Due to how Freisa grows it seems to be more likely to be the parent of Nebbiolo.
Tasting Note: Layered rose petals and potpurri, wild strawberries and brambly fruits with plush front and mid palate. Tannins are supple yet present.
The area known as Valle dei Salici has an east expousure, 240 meters altitude. On the bottom of this valley were grown Willow trees, which give very flexible branches, used for the bending and tying of the vines.
