Keenan Winery Description
2021 marks the 45th vintage for the Robert Keenan Winery and another stellar consecutive vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon. This year’s blend consists of 32% Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 15 and 32% Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 7, both from our “Big K” vineyard, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 412 from our “Point” vineyard, and 4% Cabernet Franc from our “Upper Bowl” vineyard. Deep aromatics, piercing and precise, a full rich saturated mouth feel, and a long lasting multi-layered finish define this exemplary blend. Enjoy now or decades from now.
Vinous: 92 Points
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain District) is a terrific effort in this challenging and hugely variable year. It shows good depth and persistence from start to finish. There is perhaps some angularity on the finish, but that is a pretty small critique in this vintage. Black cherry, mocha, new leather, licorice and dried herbs fill out the mid-weight frame nicely.
James Suckling: 92 Points
Lots of dried herbs and violet extract to the nose, with wild flowers and rich blueberries and ash. Rich and full-bodied with a nice herbal and tart quality to the black fruit. Firm and dense tannins, but resolved. Try after 2023
