Hyde Estate Winery Description
Hyde Estate Winery was founded by Larry Hyde in 1979, Hyde Vineyards produces some of the most coveted grapes in Napa Valley. Consisting of over 200 planted acres on several vineyard properties in Carneros, the Hyde family sells fruit to over 35 different wineries while retaining a small quantity of vines for their estate wine program.
Tasting Note: A well-structured Pinot Noir that delivers expressive fruit aromas of mulberry, boysenberry, and black tea with earthy notes and violet accents. The mid-palate is supported by generous juicy flavors of dark fruit and sweet oak spice, fine-grained tannins, and bright acidity that prolong the finish.

Drawn from three vineyard blocks, the 2020 Pinot Noir Larry Hyde is mostly Calera selection, with smaller portions of Swan and Clone 667. Like the Chardonnay, it sees about 25% new François Frères oak for its élevage. It starts off a bit earthy, with slightly smoky-bacony notes, plummy fruit and hints of caramel on the nose. While the palate is full-bodied and broad, it also is a bit lacking mid-palate, then turns a touch dusty on the mouthwatering finish. This vintage is not as aromatic as I remember in previous years, but it still has some nice attributes. Like the Merlot, it seems to improve with air.
