Hyde Estate Winery Description
Hyde Estate Winery was founded by Larry Hyde in 1979, Hyde Vineyards produces some of the most coveted grapes in Napa Valley. Consisting of over 200 planted acres on several vineyard properties in Carneros, the Hyde family sells fruit to over 35 different wineries while retaining a small quantity of vines for their estate wine program.
Tasting Note: An opulent Merlot that showcases expressive aromas of fresh cherries, plum, black currant, cassis, and a hint of leather. This wine is round, focused, and luscious with a medium to full body and fine tannins layered with flavors of red and black fruit, finishing with great acidity.

The 2019 Merlot Larry Hyde includes a trio of selections: Niebaum, Buena Vista and Clone 181. Matured in French oak (25% new), it offers up attractive cedar shadings against a backdrop of ripe black cherries, with just hints of redder fruit and none of the overdone mocha character I sometimes find in up-valley, warmer-region fruit. It's medium to full-bodied, with softly dusty tannins and hints of pencil shavings on the lingering finish.
