François Carillon Description
The Puligny-Montrachet comes from four hectares of vines, spread over 8 different localities: Derrière la Velle, Reuchaux, Corvée, Levrons, Aubues, Tremblots, Noyer Bret and Rousselles. The vinification is done in the traditional Burgundian style, with fermentation taking place in small oak casks. The wine is then aged in Allier oak.
ABOUT THE WINERY The Carillon family Domaine dates back to the 16th century. Today, François Carillon farms almost 20 acres of vineyards, located principally in Puligny-Montrachet.
Tasting Note: This linear wine is composed of a beautiful acidity which underlines and prolongs aromas of white peach and the long citrus finish
Vinous: 87-89 Points
The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Village comes from several lieux-dits and was taken from vat as the final blend. It has a perfumed, slightly minty bouquet. The palate is balanced with slightly lower acidity than the previous vintage. It's quite light with a touch of sour lemon on the finish. Fine, but it needs to gain a bit more substance.
Burghound: 87-90 Points
A deft but not imperceptible application of wood surrounds the ripe and vaguely exotic aromas of white peach, poached pear and pretty acacia wisps. Here too the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is plush, round and generous, indeed almost thick, while exhibiting solid length on the sappy finish where a touch of warmth eventually surfaces. Note that this could easily be enjoyed young.
