Evesham Wood Description
Founded by Russ Rainey in 1986, Evesham Wood is a pioneer of organic wine growing in the Willamette Valley. Our original estate vineyard, Le Puits Sec, was certified organic in 2000; the winery was certified organic in 2002. We continue to champion organic farming and certification within our grower relationships, and at our newly acquired Torres Hill estate vineyard.
Vineyards such as Illahe and Mahonia that Evesham Wood we've worked with for decades make up the bulk of the blend along with the prime Eola-Amity Hills sites of Koosah, Sojeau, Cortell Rose, Prophet, and Jubilee.
Tasting Note: This vintage shows a bright nose with cherry, red apple, fresh flowers, and a touch of loam along with a textural creamy/silkiness component that’s balanced by juicy acid.
Vinous: 90 Points
The 2023 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is understated and coy, with an enticing bouquet of dusty rose, crushed cherries and autumnal spice filling the glass. Silken and polished, it offers radiant red berry fruits and a gentle tug of crunchy minerals for balance. This 2023 finishes with excellent length and leaves a cascade of inner florals to fade slowly.
