Domaine des Hauts Châssis Description
Domaine des Haut Châssis is a family estate located in the area of "Les Chassis", in the center of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Frank Faugier is the 5th generation and took over the 20 hectares in 1998, and created the estate in 2003, named after the hamlet where it is located : his vineyard is mainly located in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, but he is producing Saint-Joseph and Saint-Péray as well. He is farming the entire estate organically since 2014 (certified in 2017). His son Raphaël joined the estate in 2022, after several experiences and 6 years of studying the wine.
East of the granitic mass that is Hermitage, winemaker and owner Frank Faugier cuts a large and distinctly rural figure which is at odds with his modern and impeccably clean winery. His understated, easy going nature comes through in his no fuss winemaking method that allows the elegance of Syrah and the superb location within CrozesHermitage to show through. No tricks here, just honest and flavorsome wines.
