Domaine Rapet Père et Fils Description

The Rapet family estate has a history going back almost three centuries. A treasured "tastevin" (wine-taster) dating from 1765, on which the family name appears, is carefully kept from generation to generation. Vincent, the grandson of Robert and son of Roland, along with his wife, Sylvette, are now hard at work managing the estate.

A great red Burgundy wine from the commune of Pernand-Vergelesses. The grape variety is Pinot Noir. The vines are now over 50 years old.

This climat, located between the Vergelesses de Savigny and those of Pernand, is limited above and below by two paths. It is therefore truly an "island", halfway up this hillside composed of both limestone and ferruginous soil. This location is perfect; enough land to produce great red wines with a gentle slope that drains the land and prevents the noble grapes from rotting. The wines, for laying down, are remarkable for their tenderness, finesse and elegance. They have enough body to age for at least ten years. Its great subtlety and femininity differentiate it from other wines because we love its cheerful and easy-drinking side.

Wine Pairing: Wonderful with beef fillet, sautéed veal, a glazed shoulder of lamb, a fricassee of duck coq au vin style, and a lovely cheese platter.

Wine Advocate: 92 Points

The 2023 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses is denser and more layered, offering up notes of plums, raspberries and candied peel, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and lively palate.

Burghound: 92 Points

This possesses the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its decidedly ripe yet fresh aromas of violet, rose petal and acacia that add breadth to the spicy poached plum and earth scents. The delicious and even more mineral-driven flavors deliver excellent length on the balanced finale. This could use better depth but that should just be a matter of patience as the Rapet Ile has an excellent track record.
