Domaine Michel Lafarge Description

Entirely from Cru of En Marcausse

Vinous: 92-94 Points

The 2020 Meursault "Vendange Sélectionée" comes from the oldest vines, 70 to 75 years old, in limestone soils. That limestone really comes through on the nose, more austere than the regular cuvée but conveying more energy. The palate is very well balanced with citrus peel, peach skin, apricot and light waxy notes, a judicious pinch of ginger enlivening the taut finish. This is very promising. Eight barrels produced.

Wine Advocate: 90-92 Points

This year, there was enough volume once again to produce a 2020 Meursault Vendanges Sélectionnées. Exhibiting aromas of pear, freshly baked bread and orange zest, it's medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with fine depth at the core and more cut and tension than the regular bottling.

Burghound: 89-92 Points

A very Meursault-like nose features notes of roasted nut, white fleshed fruit and pretty floral nuances. There is even better mid-palate density to the caressing and generous but focused medium-bodied flavors that possess another level of depth and persistence. A very fine villages.

Readers may recall that I could scarcely have been more enthusiastic about the Lafarge 2019s but the quality of their 2020s is just as good if not better. If you can find them, don't hesitate as they are, almost across the board, stunning.
