Matured in both barrels and foudres, the 2019 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits offers up aromas of sweet berries, spices and rich soil tones. Medium-bodied, lively and fine-boned, it's pretty and elegant, with lively acids and fine tannins. This derives from a parcel of old vines that are trained low, as on the Côte d'Or, rather than higher as is the norm in this appellation today.

Here there is enough reduction present to reduce the expressiveness of the clearly ripe fruit. More interesting are the slightly finer but less concentrated middle weight flavors that exude a subtle salinity on the better detailed bitter cherry pit-inflected finale.
