Domaine J. A. Ferret Description

This parcel, the smallest among those that produce the Têtes de Cru and Hors Classe cuvées, covers 0.69 hectares right next to the domaine's buildings.

Half the vines just reach 35 years old, while the rest just turn their 50th birthday.

Tasting Note: Of a rather gourmet and charming nature, «Le Clos» presents this vintage a more delicate expression than usual. Mineral and ripe at the same time, it is a wine remarkable for its energy.

Wine Pairing: Grilled or poached fish with creamy sauces, lobster, crayfish, snails in puff pastry, chicken with truffles and creamy cheeses.

Vinous: 93 Points

The 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Le Clos is the smallest single vineyard (0.63ha) owned by the domaine. It has a well defined, walnut and citrus scented nose with touches of brioche emerging with aeration. The palate is beautifully balanced with the oak neatly integrated (25% new wood). It is elegant yet intense on the finish with veins of orange zest and spice lingering in the mouth. Just superb.

Wine Advocate: 92 Points

The 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru Le Clos offers up notions of pear, crisp stone fruit, mirabelle plum and praline. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and precise, with a bright, tightly wound core of fruit, tangy acids and a long, sapient finish, this has turned out very well.

Burghound: 90 Points

A slightly more oaked and layered nose reflects notes of pear, apple, citrus zest and acacia blossom. The rich and relatively full-bodied flavors possess fine volume, indeed the mid-palate is borderline opulent thanks to the abundant dry extract, all wrapped in a similar bitter lemon-inflected finale that is firmer but not quite as precise. I would note that the wood does show up on the palate and finish so this will need a few years to integrate it more completely.
