Wine Advocate: 93+ Points
Wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, violets, sweet spices, loamy soil and roses, the 2020 Pommard 1er Cru Epenots is medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a concentrated core of fruit that's framed by rich, powdery tannins and lively acids. Antoine Jobard appears to be as adept a red winemaker as he is with Chardonnay, for this is a terrific success.
Vinous: 91-93 Points
The 2020 Pommard Epenots ler Cru has a very pure bouquet with plenty of brambly red fruit, sous-bois and light touches of blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, taut and fresh with a nicely proportioned, quite sapid finish. Good potential, give this 4-5 years in bottle.
Burghound: 90 Points
Like the Volnay, this is somewhat grapey as well, which is not a flaw per se though it may not be to everyone's liking. There is good freshness to the ripe aromas of black cherry liqueur and more discreet earth influence. There is good volume to suave and plush medium-bodied flavors that exude a bracing hint of bitter pit fruit character on the sappy and sneaky long finish. This needs more depth, but the aging curve appears to be long enough for that to occur and my rating offers the benefit of the doubt that it will over time.
