Domaine Anne Gros - Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 'Le Grand Maupertui' 2019 (750ml)
Domaine Anne Gros Description
Most of Anne’s Pinot Noir vines in this exemplary lieu-dit were from a 0.93 ha parcel planted in 1905. A breathtakingly profound grand cru; a lithe, silky wrap conceals a deeply concentrated core.
Vinous: 91-93 Points
The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet, maybe a little more compact than the Echezeaux. The grippy palate is medium-bodied and muscular compared to the Echézeaux, with dark berry fruit, touches of pain dépices and a slightly savory finish. This will need time.
Burghound: 91-93 Points
Slightly more evident wood frames more deeply pitched aromas of poached plum, cassis and warm earth along with spicy top notes. There is both good richness and vibrancy to the bigger-bodied and more muscular flavors that display focused power on the youthfully austere, complex and more structured finale. This offers outstanding length and is a wine that should also repay extended keeping.
