Bénédicte et Stéphane Tissot Description
The Tissot family has been making wine in the Jura for decades — Stéphane's father André started the domaine in 1962. Stéphane's first vintage was in 1989, at the tender age of 19, and almost immediately thereafter he decided to eschew commercial yeasts and pursue organic farming (although the domaine has been certified biodynamic since 2004). Chez Tissot, the goal is to illustrate the region's unique terroir, and to that end, they vinify as many as 28 different cuvées, determined parcel by parcel according to the soil. The small production wines are marked by elegance and freshness, in styles that range from sparkling and still to the signature Vin Jaune of the region.
Wine Advocate: 93+ Points
For Stéphane Tissot, 2023 was a very good year for reds. The wines are fruity and clean, delicate and crisp in a style he compared with 2016, even if the growing season was considerably warmer. The 2023 DD, a blend of terroirs, the equivalent in red to his white Patchwork, also blends the three red grapes: Trousseau, Pinot Noir and Poulsard. It is perfumed and attractive, with a distinct note of bitter almonds that makes it very attractive and made me go back to the glass over and over again to smell the wine. It is easy and pleasant, fine-boned, elegant, fresh and lovely, with contained ripeness and 13% alcohol, and it's very pleasant to drink.
