Bodegas Caro released its first vintage in 2000, when the Catena Family (of Argentinian fame) and the Barons de Rothschild (of Bordeaux producer Lafite-Rothschild fame) decided to collaborate and produce a wine that merged Argentinian (new world) and French (old world) philosophies of winemaking. The success of the first couple of vintages of "CARO" drove them to create a second wine, "Amancaya". Sharing in the same philosophy, "Amancaya" is made from a combination of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon to produce a wine that is both Argentinian and French in make and influence.
