First introduced in 1993, Overture has long been an expression of our estate across time. Now, for the first time, Overture is offered as a vintage-dated wine. This renewed focus on a specific growing season allows us to emphasize the unique diversity and character of our vineyards.
Under the guidance of winemaker Michael Silacci, our team meticulously cares for each block of our estate, adjusting farming practices to capture the distinct quality of the land. Harvested primarily from the alluvial soils at the foot of the Mayacamas mountains in western Oakville, the fruit for the 2022 Overture was vinified with the same precision and detail as Opus One.
The result is a wine with a distinct profile, selected for its unique aromatics, flavors, and textures. Expect notes of red fruit and herbal characteristics, all brought together by soft tannins and a luxuriously creamy texture. The 2022 Overture is a singular expression of a remarkable vintage and a testament to the art of winemaking.
Overture 2022 captivates you from the start. Its aromatic profile weaves a complex tapestry of bright cherry, fresh forest berries, and cut rose stems interwoven with delicate scents of violets, toasted almond, and anise. Blackberry, blueberry, and wild cherry take the lead on the palate with a lively acidity that adds a vibrant edge. The finish is long and rounded, with a touch of mocha and black tea that showcase the wine’s depth. This expression of selected parcels from the estate vineyards will age gracefully for years to come.
Blend: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1.5% Merlot, 1% Malbec, 0.5% Petit Verdot
Opus One Description
Gorgeous Cabernet aromas, clear and crystalline, some herbal notes with a cool blueberry and chalky element. Rose scents, dark cherries and cinnamon bark. Full and expressive, warming tones but great acidity that gives such lift. Lovely purity and drive, this has a great sense of confidence - nothing overdone, really pristine and finessed. If anything it’s not super heavy, but it’s the better for it. You get the Napa richness in the fruit concentration but it’s so well defined and still with a graceful power. Yum. 0.5% Petit Verdot completes the blend.
