Luis Anxo Rodríguez Vázquez is a pioneering winemaker in the Ribeiro region of Galicia, Spain, dedicated to reviving nearly extinct indigenous grape varieties such as Brancellao and Caiño. Operating out of his grandfather's tiny cellar since 1988, he has meticulously assembled a collection of over 200 micro-parcels of steep, granitic vineyards, which he farms organically. His philosophy focuses on crafting terroir-driven, age-worthy wines that express the unique Atlantic character of his homeland, and his efforts are credited with leading the quality renaissance of the entire Ribeiro appellation. His wines, made with native yeasts and minimal intervention, are considered benchmarks for authenticity and quality in the region.
The grapes for 'A Torna Dos Pasas' are sourced from numerous tiny parcels on steep, south-facing granitic hillsides in the village of Arnoia, Galicia. These vineyards, featuring decomposed granite and sandy topsoils, range in elevation from 100 to 230 meters and provide the distinct minerality and freshness characteristic of the wine.
Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel vats before being aged for 12 months in used 300-liter French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
