There is a lot of finesse, detail and nuance in the 2016 Viña de Martín Escolma Blanco, a white released after fermenting in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels, where the wine from each plot is vinified and matured separately for one year and kept in bottle for at least three years before it's released. It has perfect harmony and balance with developed aromas and flavors, good ripeness at 13% alcohol and superb freshness and acidity. It comes from the oldest vines, where he limits yields to one kilo of grapes per plant. It has a smoky and flinty feeling to the nose and a serious and stony palate, finishing dry and long.
