A Chardonnay from Gualtallary, 50% of the 2023 Guarda spent a year in used oak barrels. This greenish-hued wine offers herbal notes with hints of pear, chamomile and a nutty layer. Dry, lean and refreshing, the warm vintage softens its high-altitude character, resulting in a light mouthfeel. Still, it maintains a fruit-forward profile.

The 2023 Guarda Chardonnay fermented in equal parts stainless tank (without malolactic conversion) and 500-liter barrels (with regular bâtonnage.) It opens with a tangy, energetic nose of orange rinds, yellow apples and a gentle touch of lees-derived complexity. The palate is succulent and textural, transitioning to a focused, lively finish underpinned with chalky minerality. This is a highlight of the Lagarde range and a fantastic value.
