The 2022 Pettenthal Riesling GG is deep, pure and mineral on the stony/iodine-scented rather than fruity nose that reveals herbal and crunchy terroir aromas as well as concentrated fruit. Silky, refined and saline on the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, dense, pure and very elegant, still discreet but substantial and saline Pettenthal. It doesn't show its true class today but has serious talent and a substantial, very long finish.

A lovely tone of reduction plays on the nose of the 2022 Riesling Niersteiner Pettenthal Grosses Gewächs. The palate comes in with grapefruit zest and a whole lot of juiciness, all textured and tingling with red stone spice, think white pepper and crushed St. John's Wort. More air adds a sense of hazelnut. All this is embedded on an emollient palate that seems buffered with yeast and shaped by a fine phenolic frame. A lovely bitter note plays on the subtle, citric finish. (Bone-dry)
