Feudo Montoni Description
Feudo Montoni has been producing top-quality wines on its historic grounds since 1469 and is currently overseen by Fabio Sireci, the third generation of a family dedicated to producing the most refined expressions of this long-cultivated terroir. Rosario Sireci purchased the Feudo Montoni estate in the late 1800s upon discovering a wealth of ancient vines, and passed down the property his son. Located in the heart of Sicily and planted in sand and clay, this certified organic winery produces many of Italy’s most celebrated 100% indigenous varietals – Perricone, Nerello Mascalese, Catarratto, Grillo and Inzolia– in addition to the purest expression of Nero d’Avola.
Made from 35 year old vines, grafted from the older Nerello Mascalese “mother plants” at the estate. Vineyard planted at over 2,100 feet above sea level. “Terre di Elio” or “Land of Elio” is named after the owner’s son.
Tasting Note: Color is pale ruby, on the nose are hints of wild catmint, wormwood, and laurel, together with scents of pink rose petals and of lily

The 2022 Nerello Mascalese Terre di Elio opens in the glass with a candied personality as bright cherry-berry fruits, candied orange peels and sweet spices form its seductive bouquet. It's more refined within, soft-textured and perfumed, with rosy inner florals and saline mineral tones that saturate toward the close. This tapers off long and staining yet still fresh, leaving violet inner florals and hints of candied lavender in its wake. The 2022 is a wonderfully inviting and fully satisfying Nerello Mascalese.
