Emile Boeckel Description

Domaine Boeckel is a family-run estate based in Mittelbergheim, one of Alsace’s most picturesque and historic villages, with roots dating back to 1853. For over five generations, the Boeckel family has cultivated vineyards across prized sites, including several Grand Cru holdings, steadily building a reputation for expressive, terroir-driven wines. The domaine has long balanced tradition with modern techniques, focusing on sustainable vineyard practices and precision winemaking. Today, it remains a benchmark producer in Alsace, known for crafting Rieslings and other varietals that reflect both heritage and purity of place.

From the place called 'Brandluft' in Mittelbergheim, soil composed of sand and siliceous pebbles in limestone marls

Tasting Note: Delivers both energy and finesse, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a crisp, food-friendly white with elegance and character.

Vinous: 92 Points

The 2023 Riesling Brandluft was grown on Triassic limestone and sandstone. It matured for half a year in foudre and finished aging in stainless steel. The nose is almost shy, with a tender sense of Mirabelle plum and a fine, pure lemon note appearing with more air. The palate is superbly juicy, with a light, bright, tender apricot perfume and a friendly, sunny, ripe lemon note that adds a dancing spring to its step.

(Bone-dry)

Wine Advocate: 92 Points

The 2023 Riesling Brandluft is from Muschelkalk soils with sandy elements and has been cultivated by the Boeckel family for at least 120 years. Based on averaging 35-year-old vines planted at high density (6,800 vines per hectare), the wine offers an elegant bouquet of white fruits intermingled with delicate limestone notes. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense, juicy, well structured and powerful Riesling that is rich and elegant and already drinks perfectly well. There are fine tannins on the finish, which makes this an excellent gastronomic dry Riesling.
