Domaine Robert Chevillon Description

Brothers Bertrand and Denis Chevillon are the fifth generation managers of this property in Nuits-Saint-Georges, which means they work the vines and make the wines. Their father Robert, for whom the domaine is named, is still active as well. Both brothers bring passion, experience, a tireless work ethic, and intensity to their work at the domaine. Tasting through their palate of Nuits- Saint-Georges is a venerable tour of the appellation. Their Passetoutgrain, a blend of Pinot and Gamay, is a worthy introduction and their rare (two barrels made) Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc made from the “Pinot Gouges” is an exotic treasure that ages just as long as the domaine’s fabled reds. And their Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne Chardonnay and Bourgogne Rouge are grown and vinified with the same care as their premier crus. It shows.

Sourced from a 1.5 ha parcel that blends 40+ and 60+ year old vines

Wine Advocate: 91-93 Points

Offering up aromas of plums and red berries mingled with notions of smoke, orange peel and peonies, the 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots is medium to full-bodied, velvety and supple, with a suave, enveloping, charming profile, its succulent core of fruit framed by powdery tannins.

Vinous: 90-92 Points

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Chaignots ler Cru has a glorious bouquet with impressive purity and charm, floral, black cherries and veins of blue fruit bursting from the glass. The medium-bodied palate has ripe tannins, leaning a little towards the red fruit side of the spectrum, with black pepper and a slightly savory finish. Afford this three or four years in bottle.

Burghound: 90-93 Points

A markedly spicier and slightly cooler nose features notes of red currant, earth and a pretty floral top note. The racy, delicious and well-detailed medium weight flavors exude a subtle minerality on the lingering finish that also displays a hint of bitter pit fruit character. Lovely and very Chaignots.
