The 2020 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain l'Exception bursts with aromas of sweet red berries, petals and orange rind. Medium-bodied, bright and lively, with powdery tannins and a tightly knit core, don't underestimate this bottling: it will really reward some patience, and especially so this year.
Burghound: 86-89 Points
A peppery and earthy nose features mostly ripe red berry scents. The nicely textured and delicious middle weight flavors possess unusually good depth and persistence in the context of what is typical for the genre. Worth considering.
Readers may recall that I could scarcely have been more enthusiastic about the Lafarge 2019s but the quality of their 2020s is just as good if not better. If you can find them, don't hesitate as they are, almost across the board, stunning.
Vinous: 85-87 Points
The 2020 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain is the usual 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from 90. year old vines. Light blueberry and strawberry scents on the nose that is well-defined, the palate is stylistically equidistant between Pinot Noir and Gamay, the finish just a little tart and short.
