Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Description
Clos du Cromin is a walled site within the larger lieu-dit of Le Cromin, situated immediately upslope from Bitouzet's other Meursault parcel, Les Corbins in the northern sector of the appellation. Planted in 1951, Bitouzet’s third of a hectare of Chardonnay here yields a more mineral-driven, structurally stricter wine than Les Corbins, yet one which still shows ample flesh despite its youthful reticence, developing with time into a rich, well-balanced wine with a long finish.
Vinous: 90-92 Points
The 2019 Meursault Clos de Cromin has a well defined nose with almond and hazelnut scents, a little more timid compared to the preceding Les Corbins. The palate is lightly spiced on the entry with good salinity and structure even if there is not enormous length. There is a subtle slate-like note on the aftertaste. This is a well-crafted Meursault.
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
The 2019 Meursault Clos du Cromin is textural and gourmand, bursting with aromas of pear, tangerine, hazelnuts and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's nicely balanced and full of character.
Burghound: 89-91 Points
Pretty, ripe and fresh aromas include those of hazelnut, acacia and various white orchard fruit scents. There is both good cut and richness to the utterly delicious middle weight flavors that are at once succulent but fine, all wrapped in a citrusy, clean and markedly dry finale. Lovely and worth considering.
