Château de Beaucastel Description
Produced by Famille Perrin, Coudoulet de Beaucastel is often considered as the “Baby Beaucastel.” In 1936, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the very first French appellation was set. As a result, the existing vineyards were divided and the 75 acres of Coudoulet vineyards not part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards are located just east of the vineyard of Beaucastel and the soil has many similarities. The same skill in blending that has been passed down in the Perrin family from generation to generation is utilized in the range of Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône wines.
Tasting Note: Elegant, clear ruby-red colour with purple highlights. Beautifully fresh, the nose shows an attractive aromatic bouquet with notes of fresh red fruit such as crushed strawberries. This easy-drinking freshness continues on the palate with a very nice balance, roundness and delicious smoothness thanks to soft and velvety tannins and beautiful fruity aromas. Ample and refined, the finish offers a very nice length with a hint of salinity.
Vinous: 91 Points
Ripe raspberry, pressed violets, licorice and dried herbs compose the multifaceted aromatic profile of the 2022 Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel. Shaped gently by soft tannins, this refined red contains solid substance and caps off with persistence on the classic finish.
Wine Advocate: 91+ Points
A blend of 30% Mourvèdre, 30% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 10% Cinsault, the 2022 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel exhales a delicate, perfumed bouquet of black cherries, spices, violets and spring flowers. It’s medium to full-bodied, enveloping and layered with a juicy core of fruit, a tense mid-palate and a fresh, ethereal finish. This is a consistent wine and a solid value.
