Château Croizet-Bages Description
The name Château Croizet-Bages dates back to the 17th century when the Croizet brothers, an emblematic dynasty of the Médoc landed gentry, founded this wine estate in the heart of the Pauillac appellation.
Today, the Quie family also owns Chateau Rauzan-Gassies in the Margaux appellation and Chateau Bel Orme Tronquoy de Lalande, a Cru Bourgeois estate in the Haut Medoc. The Quie family began a massive renovation of the Croizet Bages estate, wine-making facilities, and vineyards in 2013. They followed that up with modernization of their cellars that was completed in 2026.
The estate is not that from Chateau Lynch Bages or Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste. The vineyard of Croizet Bages is unusual in Pauillac because the vineyard is situated on one large, contiguous parcel. The vineyard can be subdivided into at least 20 different parcels of vines.
Tasting Note: All the purity of crunchy and charming fruit lingers on candied cherry notes. A touch of petit verdot gives the wine all its colourful verve. The Cabernet Sauvignon, the true backbone of this great wine, brings an aromatic power and length that will reveal itself in the coming years. With notes of black fruit and cedarwood, the tannic structure combines lovely fatness and fullness with remarkable generosity. Delicate and velvety in texture. Rich, deep and elegant, opens up an aromatic palette of ripe plum with nuances of cocoa, spice and leather as it develops.
