Bodegas Roda Description
RODA I is blended with parcels that that year have ripened in a black fruit profile. The deep black fruit, is almost always dominated by the plumb and supported by mineral notes, chocolate and balsamic sensations, that form an ensemble that slowly flows from the furthest side of the glass until it becomes huge in the entrance of the nose. In the mouth, the volume becomes evident, the fruit complexity nicely surrounds the mouth cavity showing the numerous and polished tannins. The wine gets longer making stronger the retro nasal sensation every time we breathe. A fruity and fresh sensation will last, inviting us to continue drinking.
Tasting Note: Very intense, with a dark cherry background and a powerful red rim; enormous depth, like you never reach the bottom. The black fruit comes out in spurts, marked by plum and accompanied by many mineral sensations of limestone and Indian ink. Sweet spices appear that are reminiscent of cloves and cinnamon, with notes of cocoa, dark chocolate and the memory of the earth. Pleasant density is felt in the aromas and menthol flashes emerge that leave a balsamic sensation; Full and light at the same time. The black fruit marks the line of the plum as the protagonist, but there are red and fresh flashes of cherry. Minerality and sweet spices accompany this wonderful landscape. Great feeling of fullness, impeccable balance and enormous elegance.
Wine Advocate: 94 Points
in the 2019 Roda I, I found notes that I had found in many 2019s—ripe black fruit, an earthy touch and a touch of dark spices. It's medium to full-bodied, combining power, concentration, ripeness and elegance in a clean and modern style.
Vinous: 91 Points
The 2019 Roda I is 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano sourced from Haro in Rioja Alta. Aged 16 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% second use), this deep purple wine offers an intense oaky aroma. Notes of cherry and blackberry meet tutti-frutti, caramel, hard candy and sandalwood. Dry, rich and flavorful on the palate, this red offers a compact and juicy flow that lingers on the fruit-a delicate, rich Rioja.
