Andrea Muffato MA Description
A few years ago, three titans of the wine world came together. On one side, the D.O. Bierzo, magnificently represented by César Márquez; on the other, hailing directly from Mendoza, Andrea Mufatto and Gerardo Michelini. With such an assembly of talent, it was hardly surprising that something remarkable would emerge. And magic was indeed quick to manifest when the Michelini Mufatto, who were already crafting reds in Argentina and Uruguay, decided to venture into white wines in the northwest of Spain. Undoubtedly, a formidable challenge. Thus, under the dynamic leadership of Andrea Mufatto in a completely independent project, Andrea Mufatto Godello was born.
This endeavour in the D.O. Bierzo could not have involved any grape other than the godello, the undisputed queen of the region, which ensures that the local white wines secure a place on the lists of top recommendations. In the case of Andrea Mufatto Godello, this success is rooted in the old vines planted on slate and quartz soils in Villalibre de la Jurisdicción, in the Ponferrada area of León, where organic farming is practised.
Meticulously crafted by hand, Andrea Mufatto Godello ferments with whole clusters. After pressing, once the wine is obtained, Andrea Mufatto Godello is transferred to used oak barrels where it will rest for a couple of years until it reaches its optimal state. Despite this maturation, Andrea Mufatto Godello retains its character, free from overt wood notes, preserving a complexity that will leave no one indifferent.
